Mandarine Montgomery is the 2019 winner of the AIPP Ilford Trophy for highest scoring print at the Australian Professional Photography Awards. She is also Grand Award Winner of the 2014 International Loupe Awards and Canon Australia Portrait Photographer of the year 2013, and a Master - four bars- with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP). She is a Melbourne based photographer who's career highlights include over 40 awards both in Australia and overseas. She has travelled extensively on her photographic journey, exploring genres including commercial, architectural, fashion, portraiture and editorial. Her passion though lies in conceptual portraiture and live performance photography, where a career highlight was touring with Duran Duran during the Australian leg of their last world tour as their official photographer, and had her work featured in their 2013 calendar.
With an eye for the unusual, and a highly creative mind, her conceptual fine art portraits are a labour of love that she spends hundreds of hours on. She creates images that invite reflection by exploring the subconscious elements of her subjects, leaving subtle trails and hints to follow. It leaves room for the viewer's own interpretation-a potent combination that requires superior craftsmanship, skill and creative vision.
She has exhibited her work both in Australia and overseas including a solo exhibition in New Orleans during Jazz Fest. She has collectors and clients world wide and is a regular judge at the AIPP Victorian Professional Photography Awards. She has also contibuted to a number of recent photography books and magazines, both online and in print.
